Creating custom illustrations that are being prepared as a special gift for someone has such a cathartic effect on me. It's such a joy to be part of the gifting process. The reason I began doing these personalised illustrations was my desire to give someone a gift that connected me to them, to show them how much I cared, to show how much I know and remember about them. I love recreating that for someone else.
It was Winston Churchill who said “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” and I couldn't agree more!
This S was hand drawn in ink and created for someone celebrating their 60th birthday. The pattern includes the silhouettes of her two beloved dogs, two painting hands to represent her artistic nature, a selection of stones - which have a special meaning for her as she paints stones - and a hidden heart and paintbrush. This is all decorated with a mixture of some of her favourite flowers.
