I was asked to create a custom wedding monogram illustration and to use the illustration to design and create a custom set of wedding invitations for a couple getting married this summer.
The custom monogram illustration was hand drawn on the iPad and each and every item has been illustrated to represent the couple and their likes.
The couple requested that the letters of their initials were illustrated to represent them individually, while the ampersand be created to represent them both.
K includes a giraffe, a unicorn, butterflies and peonies.
& includes elephants, their dog Bella, the moon and a mixture of peonies and succulents.
A includes a guitar, comic book character references, his supported football team badge, beer hops and succulents.
The peony and succulent flowers will be the flowers used on their wedding day, whilst the remaining items reference their likes and personalities.
The Wedding Invitations
The monogram illustration was used on the main invitation, with illustrated components extracted from the monogram illustration to be used as illustrated elements on the other stationery.
A Baskerville serif typeface was selected for its Birmingham heritage and traditional appeal.
By working closely with the couple and creating and editing a few further design options, the final designs were agreed upon.
The papers selected were a pearlised card with a silvery undertone and a velum paper with black envelopes to encase the full set.
Because the best things come in small packages, each set of items was lovingly wrapped with care in sustainable or recyclable packaging.
